Last Minute Prom Night Checklist: Tips to Save You from Huge Prom Night Disasters

It is not unusual for high school students to forget many things before the night of their senior prom. Many students and parents forget to complete some of the most important tasks until the last minute.  When that  happens, lots of hysteria tends to occur during preparations for the prom. The following checklist will help you to get everything in line so your prom night will be full of fond memories.

Transportation
Confirm the time, date and address with your transportation provider. This should be done during the initial agreement, one or two days before and the day of your prom. It is an important task to complete whether you are using a company that provides transportation for proms or not. Verifying that transportation will be provided in the days leading up to the prom is to make sure that you are still on the provider’s radar for your chosen date and time. Confirming that this transportation will be provided when that day comes can give you additional peace of mind knowing that everything is in place.

These verifications on the days leading up to prom night will also let you know if transportation has to be provided elsewhere. That is why a backup method of prom night transportation should be planned well in advance.

Makeup
This last minute prom night checklist item will be mostly useful to high school girls. However, males can use this space to include Chapstick or some type of moisturizing lip balm. Having dry or chapped lips on prom night can make for an uncomfortable situation on prom night. This is one of the most important last minute prom tips high school boys can benefit from. Makeup tends to be last or near the end of tasks to complete before prom night. This can be understandable as prom tickets, transportation and wardrobe are of the utmost importance. Yet, many girls still want to wear makeup on their prom.

Those who put off getting the right makeup end up in a situation where they are rummaging through a friend or family member’s makeup kit on prom night. This action is taken in hopes to find something that matches their outfit. It is not a situation that high school girls should want to be in. If this sounds like it’s hitting close to home, you may want to act fast on this last minute prom night checklist item. Doing so will prevent you from wearing random lipstick, blush, and eye shadow that would never be worn for any other occasion.

Money
It is important to have a substantial amount of money on Prom Night. This can ensure that you will be able to pay for prom photos. Having a significant amount of money on prom night can also help if any emergencies occur. If your prom date is providing the transportation and he or she gets drunk or in trouble, having money can help you get a ride home from the prom. All of your money should not be of the same denomination. You should have a combination of small and large bills on prom night. Money will also make it easier to participate in any post-prom activities that are planned with friends or classmates. This may include a late dinner or early breakfast.

Still or Video Camera
You will want to capture your own memories of prom night aside from the basic professional photos that will already be taken at this event. Take a small digital camera so that you can capture still photos of your friends, classmates and fun moments on prom night. There are many disposable cameras available at pharmacy and grocery stores. These can be used if you do not own your own camera. Disposable cameras are not expensive. They can be purchased for around $7 or less, making your prom night expenses very low.

You can also take a video camera if livelier memories are preferred. Video cameras require more attention, so this is something you may want to consider beforehand. While capturing your own video of prom night may seem  like a fun idea, it is not the best option for everyone. Some high school girls or boys may get tired of carrying a video camera around all night long. If this describes your situation, a still camera would be the better option. There are so many cell phones that feature photo and video capabilities these days; you may not need an additional camera at all. If you have a camera phone, this particular prom night checklist item will more than likely already be in your possession.

Undergarments
This last minute prom night checklist item is for high school seniors who are wearing light colored or tight clothing. It is important to have the right undergarments on prom night. This will help to eliminate embarrassment and keep you comfortable during your prom. The wrong undergarments can cause all kinds of problems for students on their prom. These problems can include unwanted see-through areas of your wardrobe, creases in parts of your dress and accidental displays of your undergarments if bra straps are too loose and more. It would help to try on the undergarments that you plan on wearing beforehand. This will let you know if something is showing that shouldn’t be or if you need different color undergarments.

Gum or Mints
Prom night is a very social event. Unlike weddings or parties, you will see many of the other guests again since lots of them are your classmates. People are more likely to avoid you if your breath smells bad. If you plan on eating at the prom or later that night, make sure to have some chewing gum or mints handy. This will help to prevent you from having bad breath. There are lots of sugar-free gum, candy, Listerine drops, sprays and other alternative products that work just as well. You have no excuses to ignore this particular last minute prom night checklist item.

Most important of all is to go and have a fun and safe time!
